New threats emerging

As Hebollah grows more and more certain sunni group are beginning to build up in an effort to counter this shia group. These various groups follow in the same mindset as Fata7 Al Islam.

Over the last year there have been more incidents of violence and difficulties. There have been many reports that a Muslim group has been randomly beating up folks in Catholic neighborhoods (hazings?). There was also a brother that was poisoned recently.

In the Palestinian camps there is an obvious struggle taking place. From one building to another you can see competition between the Shia and the Sunni (Hamas or Islamic Jihad V.S Hezbollah).

Generally speaking, there has been little opposition against Christianity by Hezbollah up until now. (besides instances of harassment and prohibiting of open evangelism) However, in these various Sunni Extremist strongholds violence is more likely to occur.

As these groups build up, it is likely there will eventually be a showdown between the two forces for dominance of Lebanon.

The Sunni groups see Iraq as a lost cause and are wanting to ensure that Lebanon does not also become another Shia state. They probably are getting funding from throughout the middle east, as many Sunni nations watch helplessly as the Iraqi government becomes more and more Iranian friendly.

What will happen next? Who knows? One thing is for certain we need to take advantage of this time of opportunity that we do have, not assuming that it will remain for the next few years.
