It is about 10 minutes away from Tripoli, but is a Catholic town. It is mostly visited by people who wish to go to night clubs.
This town has no gatherings established but has a bold witness who often goes and passes out tracts here. It is really a great place to base out of, if you are interested in doing outreach in Tripoli.
It takes about an hour to get here from Beirut.
 Beirut
Beirut is a cocktail of a city. In Beirut you can find areas that people only speak French, and areas that only speak English. There are areas that are pro American, and there are areas that would kill bush if they saw the chance.
There are areas that are, Sunni, Shiia, Catholic, Orthodox, Armenian, and some Kurdish Muslims.
When doing evangelism in Beirut, it is probably wise to live in an area that is non Muslim and do outreach in the areas that are. There are a lot of believers in Beirut. There are also many who are involved in evangelism on a regular basis. If you need to get supplies to do evangelism, this city would be the place to look.
 Tripoli
This city has been one of the most difficult ones that I have yet encountered. Praise God, that there are believers there that are active in sharing the truth with others...
Fatah al Islam, a subgroup of Al Qaeda is known to have existed in this city. They supposedly have given up to the Lebanese forces, however there are still many who are appart of Mujahadeen Sunni, who have recently raised their voice of concern against Hezb Ballah (Iranian terror group that works out of Lebanon).
In 2003 or 2004 a group tried to detonate a bomb outside the home of a missionary in the town. They were not able to kill him, but did kill a Muslim background believer as a result of the bomb.
This city is to be approached with caution. It is safe for the general visitor, but doing evangelism here can get real hot - real quick.
 Sidon
Sidon or Sida is a real dramatic place. It is full of Sunni Muslims. This area is home to one of the few missionary killings in the country. This area is rumored to have Al Qaeda operatives working inside the city.
The city has no visible group of believers on inside, but if one ventures to one of the nearby Catholic villiages one will find a small evangelical community. This area is in desprate need of the Gospel.
 Tyre
Tyre or So urr is a Shiia city. It is one of the headquarters of Hezb Allah. Hezb Allah has not been directly connected to persecution of any believers however it is likely that they have been involved indirectly.
To the best of my memory this city does not have any established Church of believers. Evangelism here is going on, but in a very underground way. Believers need to make sure that when visiting this city that they keep the focus on the Gospel and not on politics. This city is controled by Hezb Allah, they control everything and are everywhere in the city.
Areas south of Tyre can be even more dangerous. There are unexploded bombs in fields and such, so going camping in the wilderness in the south is not advised.
