Bible Storying for Muslim audiences

This story is found in 2 Kings 1.

1 Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab. 2 Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said to them, Go, inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I shall recover of this sickness.

Elijah came out and stopped the messenger and said "The Lord says, 'You shall not come down from the bed where you are gone up, but shall surely die.'" Elijah departed

The messengers returned and told the king, he knew at once that it was Elijah. So he sent 50 men to go and get him.

"man of God, the king has said, Come down." However Elijah replied " If I be a man of God, let fire come down from the sky, and consume you and your fifty."

So fire came upon the men

The king sent another 50 men. They arrived and the commander said "man of God, thus has the king said, Come down quickly" Elijah replied "If I be a man of God, let fire come down from the sky, and consume you and your fifty"

Fire again came down from heaven upon these men

Yet again the king sent 50 more men. This time the commander said to Elijah, man of God, please let my life, and the life of these fifty your servants, be precious in your sight. The Lord then spoke to Elijah telling him not to be afraid and to go with him.

So he traveled with the commander.

Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? therefore you shall not come down from the bed where you are gone up, but shall surely die. 17 So he died according to the word of Lord which Elijah had spoken.

Turkmania

I have just completed work on this book that details how I began to work among the Turkmen.

The Turkmen are a minority group that are found throughout the Middle East. This book combines both instruction and also personal stories of my time with them.

Although, you might not be dealing with the Turkmen, the lessons in this book can help you wherever you find yourself serving.
