Egypt: Christians in danger

There has been a lot of concern that any new government in Egypt could become an Islamist state.

In the midst of the chaos there have been some targeted killings.

On January 30th at night, armed gunmen broke into two families homes, shooting everyone in sight. The reason: they were Christian.

Yesterday, a bomb was detonated inside of an empty Church in Sinai.

You must place these events in context. Remember as well that in the beginning of January there was also a bombing at a Church during the Coptic Christmas mass.

Through the fog of confusion it is likely that there will or have been more killings. Keep in mind the many former Muslims (now Christians) living in Egypt. They could be killed and people would think it was an accident or a result of the riots.

Please be in prayer for our brothers and sisters in Egypt. Pray for their safety, and for the Lord to give them peace in the midst of chaos. Also be in prayer that the new government there will protect freedom, and provide equal rights for all of Egypt’s citizens.
