A tough time to be a missionary
As a result of the protests going on in the Middle East, it has become quite a bit more difficult, in an already difficult land to preach the Gospel.
Many people are simply afraid to be seen as “An American”. It can be difficult, even for non American missionaries in the Middle East, as many associate the Evangelical Church with the United States.
One thing that surprised me during all of the protests of the past week was the attacking of non American Embassies, like the German Embassy.
During a riot, things are not entirely logical. For example, why target the KFC’s (here in Lebanon).
It seems that, rather than responding with logical arguments to disprove a comic, or in this case a video, Muslims tend to respond with violence. A few years ago when a comic was released depicting Muhammad with a bomb on his head, Muslims repsonded with force and anger. The comic was proven correct by the actions of the Muslims.
Often times, when preaching the Gospel Muslims ask me “What do you think of Muhammad?”
This is a difficult question to answer. If you answer it wrongly, you could start yourself a small riot. If you answer it too kindly (untruthfully) you will have lost any chance to witness to this person.
How would you answer that question? (post below)
Pray for wisdom and boldness for the missionaries of the Middle East.
